Mercury continued to soar despite chilly winds in the capital on Saturday, which is experiencing unusually warmer climate for this time of the year.

Mercury climbed five notches more than the normal at this time in the year to touch 26.6 degree celsius, which was the maximum during the last 24 hours, the Met department said.

The minimum temperature was recorded at 9.8 degree, one notch above the normal, it added.

There was shallow fog in the morning which vanished as the sun began its ascent.

The visibility recorded at the airports was above the normal at more than 1500 metre and the air traffic was smooth, airport sources said.

For the next 24 hours, weatherman has forecast mainly clear sky with mist or shallow fog to wards the evening.
