All major temples in Ayodhya are being searched for possible hidden explosives in the wake of Tuesday's massive train blasts in Mumbai.
Special explosives detection squads have been pressed into service to search the temples of the town, a police official said.
"We propose to also install closed-circuit cameras in and around all sensitive places, including the major temples of Ayodhya," the official said.
"We cannot take any chances, especially as the annual Sawan Jhula fair is beginning from July 26 when hundreds of thousands of pilgrims will descend at the temple town from different corners of the state."
Additional police force is being sent from the state headquarters here to beef up security in Ayodhya, the spokesman added.
Five terrorists were killed by security forces last July when they sneaked into the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid complex.
