At least 10 civilians were killed overnight on Tuesday when Israeli jets bombarded their homes in a devastating blitz of night time raids across Lebanon, police said.
The corpses of six civilians were pulled out from a house belonging to two couples from the same family and their nine children after an Israeli raid in the border village of Aitaroun.
"Three children and a wounded adult were evacuated but three others are still buried under the rubble," said the mayor of the village, Salim Murad, adding that jets were still flying over the village as rescue efforts continued.
Four civilians -- a woman, her two daughters and their Sri Lankan maid -- were killed and four others wounded earlier in the night by an Israeli air strike on the Lebanese coastal city of Tyre, police said.
The dead were found under the rubble of their villa in a residential neighbourhood in Tyre.
