Police resorted to baton charge as villagers turned violent after a middle-aged man's mutilated body was found in Bari town of Dholpur district.
Roop Singh Kushwaha (46), a farmer, was found murdered late last night with his genitals cut off, SP Dholpur, Vijyendra Bidari said.
Locals demonstrated demanding immediate arrest of assailants, compensation of Rs 5 lakh to his family and CBI investigation into the matter, he said.
People pelted police with stones and forced closure of shops even as security persons used baton to disperse the mob.
Reenforcement has been sent to the area and the situation is brought under control now, Bidari said.
Police have detained four persons for murder, and cases were registered for damaging public property as well.
