india Updated: Jul 09, 2009 15:38 IST

Tension prevailed in a village in Aligarh after some residents claimed that a woman was stripped and then paraded in the wake of an incident involving her son and a girl, police said.

According to the police, the incident took place on Wednesday night at Padiyavali under Madarak police station in Aligarh, after the boy was allegedly found in an objectionable position with a girl belonging to the same village.

Angry members of the girl's family, who allegedly beat up the mother beat up the boy and then manhandled his mother filed a complaint with the police.

Senior Superintendent of Police, Aligarh, Aseem Arun said, "Station House Officer of Madarak, Sher Bahadur Singh has been suspended for negligence and his failure to report the matter to a senior official until a hue and cry was raised last evening."

Police also said that a complaint was filed late last evening by the girl's family and only after this the senior police officials came to know about the incident.

The boy whose condition was serious is now undergoing treatment in Delhi.

Police force has been deployed in the village as both parties belong to different castes and the matter could be further blown up by local politicians.
