Friday’s Delhi Daredevils-Mumbai Indians clash at the Feroz Shah Kotla stadium is under a terror cloud.
Acting on an Intelligence Bureau input that the Indian Mujahideen (IM) is planning a re-run of its 2010 strike at Bangalore’s Chinnaswamy stadium, Delhi Police have tightened security in and around the Kotla.
Sources said the IB has given the names of four players who are on the terrorists’ radar and their cover has been beefed up.
According to the IB alert, the IM members behind the 2010 twin blasts that left five persons injured — also during IPL — might try to enter the Kotla in disguise. “The four players are the prime targets. Stadium staff has been asked to double-check suspicious visitors and extra pickets have been put up at approach roads,” a police officer said.
Dog and bomb squads have begun anti-sabotage checks.
