Terrorists on Saturday abducted two village defence committee (VDC) members from two villages in Doda district of Jammu and Kashmir.

The Terrorists arrived in the villages of Dauthan and Tender and cornered Ghulam Mohammad, Ghulam Hassan, Ram Lal and Shadi Lal.

Ram Lal and Shadi Lal, however, were freed after the villagers formed a human chain around them and forced the militants to set free the two Hindus.

The Terrorists took away with them Hassan and Mohammad along with the ammunition provided to them for the defence of the villages.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Doda) Manohar Singh said police teams were despatched to trace the militants and the abducted VDC members.

The VDCs were set up in all villages of Doda district in the mid-1990s to guard villagers against terrorist assaults.
