In yet another gruesome incident, terrorists shot dead two people in the remote Kandi village of Kupwara district in north Kashmir late Saturday night.

According to the Senior Superintendent of Police Kupwara, Vijay Kumar a group of five heavily armed foreign terrorists entered two different houses in Kandi Village and asked the inmates of the house to serve food.

After eating food they asked the inmates to show safe way out of the village, which was refused by the family members and in rage terrorists shot dead Mohammed Sultan Ganai (65) S/o Sultan Ganai and Manzoor Ahmed Mir (30) S/o Sanaullah Mir and fled from the spot.

“I myself went to the village and met the family members of the deceased, they told me that a group of five heavily armed foreign terrorists entered their house late last night and demanded food, after the food was served the terrorists asked the family members to show them safe way out of the village. The family members refused to show the way as it was quite late, in a fury terrorists opened gunfire killing two people on the spot and they themselves fled away taking the advantage of the dark.” SSP Kupwara Vijay Kumar told HT over phone.

Adding further the SSP Said,“As the Kandi belt of Kupwara is highly infested with terrorists,  mostly foreigners, they frequently demand help from people of the area, but the people don’t cooperate with them and such incident of killing of innocent people shows their frustration.”

However the residents of the area blame that the nearby army camp did not responded on time, “Had the army responded then the two innocent lives would have been saved, they did not came here even after hearing the gun shots.”, said a local resident of Kandi village.
