For Shiv Sena workers, the late Bal Thackeray still has the final word. Recently, television advertisements showed him appealing to the people of Maharashtra to vote for the party he created.
Now, in Thane City, many residents were surprised to receive an inland letter signed by Thackeray. The Shiv Sena’s Thane unit has sent the letters to all voters there and some have even been delivered personally to people's homes.
The letter reads as follows, “At one time I used to talk to you standing in front of you. The Adarsh scam, toll issue, suicides of farmers… these issues were still pending. At present I am not with you. I have seen a trailer of success during the Lok Sabha elections. Now, I would like to see a full majority saffron movie.”
The letter doesn’t mention the BJP at all and ends by appealing to voters to elect the Shiv Sena.
“Balasaheb always had a soft corner for Thane. He loved the area. Many of our Shiv Sainiks became emotional after reading the letter,” said Naresh Mhaske, the party’s in-charge in the Thane Lok Sabha area, adding that the letter was being circulated in Thane City and Kopri-Panchpakhadi constituencies.
