While no one can bring back their beloved Yogesh, the proud Futane women — Vijaya and Shweta — will now get all the necessary support they need. After the report of their plight on Monday, HT has been inundated with calls from readers offering to help.
Yogesh was one of 11/7’s 184 victims. Yogesh’s widow, Shweta (19) has to support herself and mother-in-law Vijaya. But Shweta’s never worked before and has studied only up to Std 12. She wants to do her graduation. A reader, who wished to remain anonymous, has offered to sponsor her education.
Shweta also wanted to learn computer skills for an office job. Swarup Patil, who runs Prime Data System, a computer institute and employee management agency, has offered to teach her computer basics for free and promised to help with a job.
ICICI Securities has offered suitable placement and Delhi Public School, Nerul, wants to hire her as a helper. HT will put her in touch with them and help her make an informed decision Our reporters will continue to visit families of the deceased and of those recuperating in hospitals. We’ll assess their immediate and long-term needs and try to ensure that they are met. We’ll keep you informed of the progress.
