AishwaryaDon’t mistake these pictures for scenes straight out of a 70s movie — they’re Bollywood A-listers sporting the ‘retro look’ for their upcoming flicks.

While actors Aishwarya Rai and Akshay Kumar sport an uber-cool 70s look, complete with a Lambretta scooter and blinding colours, for filmmaker Vipul Shah’s Action Replayy, Kangna Ranaut’s look in Milan Luthria’s Once Upon A Time In Mumbai is an out-and-out blast from the past.

“The 70s was the time of flower power, people had started to live-in together, and women were liberated. Kangna’s clothes and attitude reflect those changes,” says Luthria. Fashion experts feel the retro look never goes out of style. “Mini skirts, flared trousers, sleeveless blouses and shoes with platform heels that were a hit during 70s are cool even today,” says designer Anjana Bhargav.

“Big and bold eyes with spikey mascara, eyeliner, shimmery eyeshadow as well as rosy cheeks and loud lip-gloss complete the retro look,” says Vidya Tikari, make-up expert.
