For foodies of the city, it is not just about the food. For them it is also about being in regular touch with their favourite eateries, pubs and bars through social networking websites by joining their fan pages. Various restaurants in the city have very active fan pages on social networking websites such as Facebook. Here’s a look at some of them that have more than 1,000 ‘likes’ on their fan pages, in Facebook.
Big Chill Cafe in Khan Market holds the top position with more than 60,000 ‘likes’ marked on the fan page, followed by Khan Chacha with more than 49,000 ‘likes.’

Big Chill’s fan page has one of the highest number of followers among restaurants in the city. On the wall of the fan page, people have written about their favourite dishes in the restaurants. Mississippi Mud pie (Rs.247 per slice) and Banoffee pie (Rs.158 per slice) ranks highest in popularity with the fans. Pictures of the restaurants’ branches and dishes served are posted on the fan page.

The fan page has also done various kinds of interactive activities with the fans. One such is where people have to rate their favourite roll at the eatery and the shops’ chicken tikka roll (Rs.135) gets the highest ratings. It is followed by mutton tikka roll (Rs.135). Apart from regular interactions, there are pictures of various Bollywood celebrities and cricketers, who visited the shop, are posted on the fan page.

Al Bake has separate fan pages dedicated to Al- Bake’s Shawarma’s, which has around 473 likes. The shwarmas of Al Bake are so popular that people travel from far flung corners of the city to eat it.
