Akshay Kumar speaks about his forthcoming flick, Action Replayy, his new show Master Chef and his beloved hobby - cooking. Read on to know what is the Khiladi's speciality.
Your new film, Action Replayy, is about a boy who rewinds to the past to stop his parents' marriage. If you were to rewind your life, which moments would you want to see in action replay mode?
There are many moments … when I first went to school; when my teachers would punish me and ask me to stand outside the class. The time my first film was released, when my parents saw it, and when it became a hit.
If you could go back in time, what is that one thing that you would like to see?
I would like to go back and see my father-in-law Rajesh Khanna's superstardom. I have heard a lot about it, but would want to see it for myself.
You have long hair in Action Replayy. From where is the look inspired?
It is inspired from Sunil Dutt from the 1975 film, Zakhmee.
The look was so vibrant. That is why I'm actually planning to go retro. A while back, there was a trend of wearing bat-collared shirts -- let's bring it back!
Buzz was that the film's posters were changed at the last minute at your behest. True?
Yes, I have changed them all (laughs) … no, I haven't done anything. Vipul (Shah) is a very intelligent man; he got Rahul Nanda, who has made the posters for 900 films. So, do you think I will make posters?
Khatron Ke Khiladi, which you used to host, is back on TV, but with Priyanka as its host. Have you seen the show?
Yes, I have, and I'm missing it.
Meanwhile, you’re hosting your own TV show, Master Chef. How is it going?
This show is close to my heart, as it reminds me of my roots. I love cooking. When I was young, I liked to cook. When I went to Thailand to learn martial arts, the only job I got was that of a chef; I took it up and started enjoying cooking.
I feel cooking is a talent, and I want to profess it through this show.
What is your specialty when it comes to cooking?
I cook Thai Green Curry; I learned to cook it in Thailand. It is my favourite dish; and it takes almost two hours’ time to prepare. I like all kinds of food, as I love to eat.
