Child prodigy Keshav, who enthralled the audience at the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games, was spotted while performing at a function at Puducherry in May.
A nervous Keshav, accompanied by his photographer mother Gopika, fielded questions from the media on Monday.
Asked if he was nervous before going on stage, he said "I was excited."
His mother added that Keshav had only trained for a month. "The aim was to keep the whole act very spontaneous. I did not want to force him," Gopika said. Born into a family of musicians, Keshav started playing the tabla at the tender age of two. A student of Deeparam school in Auroville in Puducherry, Keshav studies in Class 2.
Bharat Bala, the creative director of the opening ceremony of the Games, said, “I discovered Keshav in Auroville in May and decided instinctively that he should be included in the ceremony.”
