The murder of a 14-year-old girl and the domestic help of the family in Noida took yet another turn on Sunday. The autopsy report indicated that there was a gap of about 3-4 hours between the two murders.
The post-mortem report of Hemraj has revealed that he hadn’t consumed alcohol. This has perplexed the police as it was earlier suspected that the help had consumed alcohol after liquor bottles were recovered from his room. The police also said that there were three to four persons involved in the murders.
"In both cases, there were injuries on the head and the throat was slit. The assailant had used a sharp-edged weapon. However, it cannot be said if the two were killed with the same weapon. The murders took place between 3-4 hours of each other," said assistant superintendent of police Akhilesh Kumar.
Aarushi Talwar, a student of DPS, Noida, was found murdered in her house on Friday morning. Hours after Aarushi’s body was found the Noida police said the domestic help, Hemraj, was the prime suspect and that he was missing. However, over 36-hours later, in a major embarrassment for the police, Hemraj’s body was found on the terrace of the same house by a retired police officer. The police now say both were murdered on Thursday night.
Nearly 72-hours after the two murders, sources said investigators were still searching for leads. Police teams have spoken to Aarushi’s parents, Rajesh and Nupur, both practicing dentists. The police are also questioning two relatives of Hemraj. The Special Task Force is also assisting in the probe.
Kumar refused to comment when asked who had removed the blood-soaked mattress from Aarushi’s room, which was later, found from the balcony of a neighbour.
"Call details of Aarushi and Hemraj’s mobiles are being examined and we are talking to the people whom they had spoken to. Aarushi had spoken to someone for an hour before she was murdered. The phone’s location was found to be Mayur Vihar. Hemraj’s mobile was found switched off," Kumar said.
