They slapped me and tore my clothes: Salesgirl

An altercation in a Gurgaon music store took an ugly turn when a salesgirl reportedly attacked a senior citizen with a knife. The Gurgaon Police have arrested accused Sonisha and booked her on charge of attempt to murder. The condition of the victim, Vijay Sood, is said to be stable. He has been admitted to the ICU of a private hospital. Sood is a resident of the posh Windsor Court condominium.

According to DCP (East) Satheesh Balan, Radhe Mahenderu — also a resident of Windsor Court — reached a music store in Super Mart in DLF Phase IV around 9.45 pm after his daughter Kirti (name changed) complained a sales executive had slapped her. Two of Mahenderu's friends — Vijay Sood and Arun K. Sharma — were accompanying him.

“When the men were talking to Sonisha, she took out a butcher's knife and stabbed Vijay Sood in the stomach,” said the DCP.
Balan said Mahenderu’s complaint stated his daughter had called up the music store, Great India Movie, to order a doorstep delivery of a DVD.

“Sonisha reportedly spoke rudely and told Kirti to come and get the DVD from the shop as there were no spare delivery boys. Then she banged the phone. Kirti went to the store with her brother and an altercation ensued. Mahenderu also complained Sonisha slapped his daughter,” Balan added.

Mahendru, an exporter, said Sonisha was very aggressive when he and the others tried to discuss the matter with her. “We asked her to come out of the shop but she started abusing us. All of a sudden she took out a knife and attacked Vijay. He was rushed to the hospital where doctors termed his situation critical,” he said.

‘I acted in self-defence’

Sonisha claimed she had acted in self-defence, as she had been dragged by her hair, beaten and her clothes ripped off by Sood and his friends.

“I was abused, slapped and my clothes were ripped by three-four people who threatened to parade me naked,” Sonisha claimed, while saying that the police should have also put these people behind bars.

She admitted she was in a hurry when she spoke to Kirti over the phone. “However, I did explain the reason to her. But she came to the shop with her brother and started arguing. She slapped me and this resulted in the scuffle,” she said.

After her altercation with Kirti, Sood and his friends came to the shop. “One of them slapped me while another dragged me out of the shop by my hair. I started groping for something to save myself from the beating. It was then I spotted a knife I had just purchased. I used the knife and struck the old man,” she said.

Treatment by police
There were no women constables to escort Sonisha from the shop to the DLF police station or at the lock up. She was also reportedly slapped by a policeman at the shop and was later paraded a couple of times before the media.
