Thieves broke into the house of an HR executive in Rajender Park and fled with a booty of R8 lakh on Thursday. Victim Birender Singh and his wife were away at work when the burglars struck.

A neighbour informed them when he saw the house's main door broken.

A case of theft was registered against unknown persons.

Singh told HT, “I and my wife left for office at 10am and we got a call from our neighbour around noon that the main door was broken and the house was ransacked. We immediately rushed back from work. The almirah was broken and the thieves took away jewellery worth R6 lakh, a laptop, other valuables and R15,000 cash. The police team was called and they collected fingerprint samples and photographs.”

“It looks like the thieves were keeping a watch on my house for the last few days and they knew that we leave for office in the morning and return only in the evening,” added Singh.

A police official said, “We are conducting investigation and have registered a case.”
