Even in their wildest dreams the students of Sri Balaji Society, a management college in Pune, do not dream of a holiday. The college remains open on Sundays as well as festivals.

But on Wednesday morning when the 1st year students were all prepared to give their business law exam, this news was like a shocker to them.

An official notice read – The examination has been postponed as the college management has invited all the students to watch Sachin Tendulkar’s batting, at the college auditorium.

When asked to the director (IT) Biju G Pillai that how can a college which is so tight with its academic schedule can give a holiday and allow students watch Sachin’s batting, he said, “ The college believes that Sachin Tendulkar is not just a cricketer, he is an institution. We wanted the students to see his batting in the penultimate test. There are so many things one can learn from the master blaster’s body language in the field.”

“So it is for the benefit of students that we cancelled the exam. The students could learn much more from seeing the man and observing his behaviour than by giving the exam.”’

Student of the college Parth said, “Before this news came to me, I was very sad as I didn’t want to give the exam but watch Sachin’s batting. In the morning when I got to know that the exam has been postponed, I was ecstatic.”

“I straightaway went to the auditorium. It was jam packed and we cheered the master blaster’s well-made 74 runs,” he added.
