This time, finalising cabinet an easy task for Chouhan

Euphoria of a third straight victory is not yet over, but the state BJP has started getting down to the nitty-gritty of government formation. Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who has already sent in his resignation, is expected to be sworn in afresh on December 14.

"After a meeting among the party leaders on Monday it was decided that Chouhan would take oath at the Jamboree Maidan on December 14," said BJP member Vijesh Lunawat.

In 2008, Chouhan had a solo swearing-in at the same site. The idea was to project a larger-than-life image and cut to size detractors who considered themselves on par with him.

Barring Chouhan's election as the chief of legislature party and staking claim to form the government — formal precedures both — the only job that remains is inviting the Central leaders to the swearing-in ceremony, which the CM intends to undertake personally.

But his visit to Delhi would also involve a more serious mission — finalising the list of ministers with the Central leadership.

That task is considerably easier this time, thanks to the defeat of as many as 10 ministers, some of whom were a thorn in the flesh for Chouhan.

The ones who lost include cabinet ministers Anoop Mishra, Ramkrishna Kusmaria, Laxmikant Sharma, Karan Singh Verma, Ajay Vishnoi, Jagannath Singh, and ministers of state Kanhaiyalal Agarwal, Harishankar Khatik, Brijendra Pratap Singh and Dashrath Lodhi.
