Haryana Police today claimed to have cracked the rape and murder case of a 16- year-old Kurukshetra girl. Three accused were arrested by a special investigation team of the Ambala Rane in the intervening night of May 26 and 27 from the area of police station Shahbad, Kurukshetra.
Accused have been indetified as Gurwinder Singh, Ranjot Singh and Virender alias Kaka. The police also found two firearms along with four live bullets from their possession. Addressing a press conference, IGP, Ambala Range, KK Sindhu, that the girl, student of 12 class, belonging to Kurukshetra was forcibly kidnapped in the late evening hours of May 4, by unidentified persons using a utility vehicle from close to Jindal Chowk, Sector 2, Kurukshetra. Her dead body was found thrown in a drain in the area of village Ramba, Police Station Sadar Karnal, Karnal after she had been raped and murdered, he said.
People in Kurukshetra had even shut down their shops and commercial establishments on May 25 in protest against the failure of police to arrest the culprits responsible for the kidnapping, gangrape and murder of the girl.
