A batch of 347 pilgrims departed from the Jammu base camp to the cave shrine of Amarnath in south Kashmir amid tight security here on Tuesday.
Police sources said the 33rd batch of pilgrims, comprising 213 men, 43 women, two children and 89 sadhus, left from Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu around 5am. The convoy included nine vehicles, they added. With Tuesday's batch, 49,791 pilgrims have left the Jammu base camp for Amarnath so far.
Sources said another batch of 523 pilgrims, comprising 410 men and 44 women and 69 sadhus, left the Pahalgam base camp on the traditional yatra route.
From the Baltal base camp, 340 yatris left for the holy shrine. In all, 3,31,792 pilgrims have paid visit to the shrine so far.
