Six people, including three Delhi Police personnel and three private detectives, have been arrested by the city's special cell in connection with senior BJP leader Arun Jaitley's phone records being accessed unauthorisedly.

The arrested police personnel include an assistant sub-inspector (ASI), one head constable (HC) and a constable. They have been identified as ASI Gopal, HC Harish and constable Harish.

Sources said that all the three policemen were posted at a southwest district police station.

The three private detectives were identified as Puneet Verma, Meraj Saifi and Alok Gupta.

All the six were arrested following investigation into Jaitley's call detail records (CDRs) case that came to fore in January this year.

Earlier, Delhi Police constable Arvind Dabas, detective Anurag Singh and Singh's associates - Neeraj Nayar and Nitesh Singh - were also arrested in the case.

They were released on bail in May 2013 on the ground that they had already received relief in the main phone tapping case by another court.

Dabas was arrested on Feb 14 for allegedly trying to access Jaitley’s call details. According to police, Dabas used the official email ID of an assistant commissioner of police (ACP) to send a request to a mobile service provider for the CDRs of the senior BJP leader.

The fraud was detected after the nodal office of Airtel complained to the Delhi Police's special cell.
