INDORE MADE it to the top-five league, with Avirishu Verma securing second spot and Nirmesh Malviya third spot in the Pre-Engineering Test (PET) results announced today.
Avirishu Verma, the only girl on the merit list, was in New Delhi could not be contacted. Neither could her family be contacted at their residence at 71, Sudama Nagar, Annapurna Road. Nirmesh Malviya, who came third, said that he had not done any special preparation for the PET exam as he had already cleared IIT-JEE and appeared for counselling in June.
He secured all-India 98 rank and got admission in IIT- Kanpur. He has opted for Computer Science stream and would join in August.
He plans to do Masters in Computers and wishes to join Microsoft. He had also appeared for AIEEE and secured all-India 92nd rank and fifth rank in the State. His father, Harish Malviya, who is an engineer and works in the Indore Development Authority (IDA) said that Nirmesh had come first in the Physics, Chemistry, Maths Olympiad held by BARC, Mumbai.
Kandrap Vyas secured ninth spot in the disabled category. Pranav Narang of Rankers Point secured 40th spot. Rankers Point faculty Himanshu Joshi said that the exam had been relatively easy as compared to last year with only two papers of science and maths, respectively, for which nearly 35,000 students had appeared from the State.
This year the separate papers of physics and chemistry had been combined into science.
