Three held with 50 kgs ammonium nitrate in Sabarkantha

Three persons have been arrested with 50 kgs of ammonium nitrate, gelatin sticks and detonators from Himmatnagar taluka of Sabarkantha district, police said on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip off, Sabarkantha Special Operations Group(SOG) conducted searches in vehicles near Rupal village in Himmatnagar during which they recovered explosives from a tractor, they said.

The police recovered 50 kgs of ammonium nitrate, 287 detonators and nine gelatin sticks.

According to police one Laxman Badiya and Kati Gaurishankar from Dungarpur in Rajasthan were arrested for being in possession of explosives without license.

Interrogation of the duo revealed that they were going to deliver the explosives to one Madhav Enterprise in Dhansura taluka, police said.

Owner of Madhav enterprise, Mahaveer Maheshwari has also been arrested, they added.

SOG police inspector S K Vaghela said a case has been registered against the trio under the Explosion Substance Act.
