At least three people were injured on Tuesday when a mine planted by Maoists exploded in Orissa's Malkangiri district, the police said.

The blast occurred in MPV 31 village under Kalimela police station, some 700 km from Bhubaneswar.

The mine went off when a constable of special operation group of police (SOG) was trying to defuse it, a senior district police official told IANS.

The policeman and two others sustained injuries, he said, adding one of the injured was critical.
