A businessman went trigger happy after some locals opposed his act of encroaching government land in Jaripatka area of north Nagpur on Tuesday afternoon. Three persons were injured in the incident.

Reports said that Thakurdas Jethwani, a businessman, was accused of encroaching a public utility land near the busy Shah square. This was opposed by locals. Some people lodged a complaint about this with the local civic authority — the Nagpur Improvement Trust — and sought removal of the encroached structure.

The NIT told the principal complainant, Sushil Kalyani, to furnish a photograph of the encroached structure to substantiate his accusation. So, Kalyani went to the area on Tuesday afternoon with a camera to photograph the place.

It was when Kalyani tried to click pictures of the encroached land and the structure thereon that Jethwani and his associates attacked him. Kalyani, who was injured in the attack, immediately rang up his brother, Prakash, a businessman.

Prakash came to the spot and fire in air from his revolver to disperse the people who had gheraoed Sushil. But the group holding up his brother did not disperse. So Kalyani fired at the group. Three persons -- Bajirao Thakre (35), Satish Sadhvani (23) and Kishore Jethwani (19) suffered bullet injuries.

The injured were rushed to the Government Medical College and Hospital, where Thakre’s condition is reported to be very serious.

Police immediately reached the spot and arrested Prakash Kalyani and his brother Sushil and pacified the mob.

Prakash was in the news a few years ago when he killed three persons who allegedly tried to rob his medical shop.
