Three more heavily armed militants were on Monday killed by troops in a gunbattle while they were trying to cross the Line of Control in Uri sector of north Kashmir, a day after six infiltrators were shot dead in Srinagar.

Three infiltrators were killed on Monday, taking the number of intruders killed by the troops at Boniyar-Lachipora, 130kms from Srinagar, to nine, defence spokesman Lt Col J S Brar said.

The gunbattle broke out between the heavily-armed infiltrators and the troops at the LoC last evening and the operation was still going on when reports last came in, he said.

The spokesman said 12 AK rifles, five global positioning system equipment, two sattelite phones, one mobile phone, eight radio sets, Rs one lakh and a computer hard disk were recovered from the slain militants.
