THREE JOURNALS of the National Academy Of Sciences, India (NASI) have gone online and will now be accessible to the readers right from the day of their publication albeit on the Net.
In an initiative to get the contents of the three much-in-demand journals available to the readers early, the NASI has taken the help of the IT revolution and put the three journals of the Academy—Proceedings of the NASI (section A-Physical Sciences), Proceedings of the NASI (section B-Biological Sciences) and National Academy Science Letters-- on www.new.dli.ernet.in.
Executive Secretary of the NASI, Dr MS Sinha, said, "One can have an easy access to the journals on the website of Digital Library Of India (DLI) which is controlled by Indian Institute Of Science, Bangalore."
Dr Sinha said that, though the journals are available on the site of the NASI, but only current issues can be found on the same site. Now, with the journals being available on the site of Digital Library Of India, one can obtain information from the date of it's publication.
Besides, a person can easily get the information of all the other libraries of India on the site of DLI, he said.
The move is a part of an effort to develop scientific temperament among the masses, claimed Dr Sinha.
"The journals' contents are being put online with the help of Indian Institute of Information Technology-Allahabad.
The IIIT-A experts scan the contents using state-of-the-art scanners and put them on the website."
