Three students drown in river Tawi in J&K

The trio, along with three others of Luthra Higher secondary School had consumed beer on the banks of the river before taking bath in it.

Three schools students have drowned while taking a bath in river Tawi in Jammu, officials said on Wednesday.

The drowned students were identified as Varun, Ankush and Yousuf of Bantalab, they said.

The trio, along with three others of Luthra Higher secondary School went to Tawi river in Jammu city to take bath on Tuesday evening. They had consumed beer on the banks of the river before taking bath in the river. Meanwhile, two returned to the town to get more bottles of beer, officials said.

In the meantime, Varun, Ankush and Yousuf started taking bath but were washed away by strong water currents, they said.

The one of the bodies have been recovered while the search for others are continuing, they added.
