Three suspected militants were killed in two different encounters with security forces in Manipur, official sources said today.
Acting on a tip-off, a combined team of Imphal West commandos and Assam Rifles moved to Leimakhong Mapal area in Imphal East District last evening. The ultras who were challenged to halt, fired upon the security personnel, the sources said.
In the retaliatory fire, two militants were shot dead on the spot. One 9mm pistol, a 32 mm pistol and some live rounds were recovered from their possession.
In a separate incident, Assam Rifles personnel gunned down an armed activist following a shoot-out at Govajang village near Moreh town bordering Myanmar in Manipur's Chandel district yesterday, sources said.
One .38 pistol with four live rounds were recovered from the spot, they added.
