POLICE HAVE arrested all three accused responsible for killing three persons and injuring two others in the mayhem that spread panic in the Chandan Nagar area Wednesday night.
The arrested persons are Sadik (20) son of Gulfam resident of Sahayog Nagar, Kalu Pathan alias Chhota Payla (19) resident of Chaduwala Road and Ajju alias Rafiq (21) resident of Chandan Nagar.
Addressing the media on Thursday, SP Anshuman Yadav said that the first murder took place at around 6 pm at Sahayog Nagar. The three accused stopped Zarin (23) who is Sadik’s neighbour and asked for Rs 2,000, which Zarin owed to Sadik. When Zarin refused to give the money, they stabbed him to death.
After this, the accused went on foot to Scheme No 71 where they had an altercation with Ganesh Singh (25) son of Subhan Singh Thakur resident of Anand Nagar, who drives a LPG delivery van, and stabbed him to death at around 6.40 pm.
They fled from there and accosted Nitin (22) son of Gyaneshwar Rao at GNT Market near his home and told him that they had committed a murder and wanted money to escape. When Nitin refused to give money, they stabbed him in his posterior. On the run, they collided with one Mohammad Wasim (22) son of Aman Alamwala and stabbed him in his thigh and hands.
The three then came to the Navi Gali Naka road. Here Sadik was hit accidentally by a milk can being carried by Mukhtiyar (26) son of Gulam Rasool resident of Nake Wali Road, Navi Gali, Chandan Nagar.
On this they entered into an altercation with Mukhtiyar. They told Mukhtiyar that they had committed a murder and asked for money. When Mukhtiyar refused, they stabbed him, which resulted in his death.
The SP said that initially delay in nabbing the accused was because in all cases the deceased and those injured were taken to different hospitals by their relatives and it took some time for the police to co-relate that this was the handiwork of the same three persons.
Once it became clear who were responsible for the crimes, police spread out in the entire area and by midnight they had arrested Ajju and Payla, but Sadik had managed to give them the slip. He was arrested on Thursday morning from his in-laws’ house in Mhow.
Zarin had given contract of Rs 5,000 to Sadik to rough up one Irfan Godha around six months ago. Fulfilling the contract, Sadik had stabbed Irfan and had been arrested by Chandan Nagar police and spent three months in jail.
However, Zarin paid only Rs 3,000 of the contract amount and the altercation was over the remaining Rs 2,000.
Before the media on Thursday, Sadik pleaded that at the time he committed the murders, he was in a state of intoxication. The other two said they were not drunk or on drugs. Sadik said he killed Zarin because the latter was refusing to pay the remaining Rs 2,000.
They said they had killed Ganesh Singh because he had taken his tempo over Ajju’s foot. When Ajju protested, Ganesh Singh had slapped him. This lead to the murder, they said. Milkman Mukhtiyar dashed his milk can against Sadik and did not apologise, rather he berated and told them to walk properly. This angered them and they stabbed him.
