Security has been tightened here ahead of AICC General Secretary Rahul Gandhi’s visit to address election rallies on the last day of campaigning today for the Jammu-Poonch constituency, which goes to polls on April 16.

Gandhi is scheduled to address election rallies in Vijaypur in Samba district and the Kathua region, which have been thrown under tight security cover with additional deployment of police and para-military force, police said.

A team of special protection group (SPG) had arrived here two days back to conduct a survey of the venues, they said.
Gandhi will address the rallies along with Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Union Minister for Water Resources and JKPCC president Saif-ud-Din Soz and Union Minister of State in PMO and AICC general secretary Prithvi Raj Chavan.
After addressing the rallies here, Gandhi will leave for Punjab and then to New Delhi in the evening, they added.
