Time for an UN-Conference
The open source is at it again. This time it was time for some intellectual talk on open source and the gathering had participants from across the world. Open Source likes doing things differently so they termed this as the "Open Source Un-conference".
Sponsored by Impetus technologies the venue was Noida. This OSS un-conference was about discussions, presentations, and interactions with the participants. The common thread that binds the community together is the desire of learning by sharing and to share your work with the community.
The star of the un-conference was undoubtedly Noel Hidalgo of the www.luckofseven.com fame. Luckofseven is an open-source, around the world project by Noel, a New York city based activist, organizer, blogger, barcamper and coworker.

Google Launches Presentation Software
This week Google launched the much talked about competitor of Microsoft's Power Point, Google Presentation. Announced in April Google was working to bring presentations to Google Docs. Now the software is available for download at http://docs.google.com For the uninitiated you can see a video demo on Youtube
According to the official Google Blog, "more than any other type of document, presentations are created to be shared. But assembling slide decks by emailing them around is as frustrating as it is time-consuming. The new presentations feature of Google Docs helps you to easily organize, share, present, and collaborate on presentations, using only a web browser."
