1993: CBI filed chargesheets in Lucknow in case number 197 against karsevaks and 198 against BJP leaders.
1997: CBI was asked to frame charges against the BJP leaders and Kar sevaks in both cases. But a write petition was moved in High Court and lower court proceedings were stopped.
2001: High Court said case number 198 involving BJP leaders was not legally given to Special CBI court. Thus hearing in this case could not continue in Lucknow.
2002: UP government referred the case to special court Rai Bareli for hearing. In the meantime CBI filed a supplementary chargesheet and the charge of conspiracy was removed. The NDA was then in power at the centre.
2003: On the basis on supplementary chagesheet Rai Bareli court discharged LK Advani from the case and decided to frame charges against remaining seven accused- Dr MM Joshi, Uma Bharti, Vinay Katiyar, Ashok Singhal, Giriraj Kishore, Vishu Hari Dalmia, Sadhvi Rithambara.
2005: In a write petition against Rai Bareli court order discharging Advani, High Court rejected lower court order and directed to make Advani also one of the accusued.
2005: Thus all the accused appeared in court in Rai Bareli on July 28, 2005. After presentation of proofs the process of appearance of witness started on December 2007. The Senior IPS officer Anju Gupta who appeared today was the ninth witness from the prosecution side. The case number 197 involving kar sevaks in pending in Lucknow bench of High Court.
