Time ripe for Virat Kohli to say 'Voila'

Virat Kohli

Big players rise to the occasion, this is now such a clichéd theory it may seem, but that is reality. Sachin Tendulkar made a mark on big days that creates your aura. Ever since, India’s most sought-after-player Virat had a dream run in the Oz series, expectations have soared. Now, he is expected to score a hundred every time he walks out to bat, in a way reminding you of Sachin, of the 90’s.

Brian Lara, Inzamam actually epitomise this ‘big-match theory’, not to forget our very own Yuvraj, the southpaw put his hand up every time India was in a spot of bother. Virat Kohli is the perfect modern-day cricketer, switching formats like hairstyles, with utmost ease. The punters believe year 2015 is the year, where Kohli attains batting supremacy and becomes a legend. Hence, this question will be important, ‘which team does he choose’? Does he choose the Oz or does he want to keep the best for the last.

Against Pakistan, this match was hyped from the very day, the fixtures were disclosed. All eyes were on Team India’s blue-eyed boy, and what does he do, he slams a reassuring ton against arch-rivals Pakistan. The century assured fans back home and across the globe, that the duty to bring back the Cup was in able hands. Since, then tough Kohli has not looked great, also because of the gigantic standards he sets for himself. He got runs, he was not out on a couple of occasions and India did not require so much to win, hence the scores are not as hot as it usually is. That, unfortunately ladies and gentleman is not the right parameter to judge situations by.

Come Thursday, and there are high possibilities, you may wake up to see Virat creaming the ball to all parts of SCG, making the Aussies dance to his tunes. Bigger the occasion, better the show as Viv famously said. Kohli also likes the competition against the fierce Aussies. Like the Aussies, he believes in fighting fire with fire. Kohli would also be aptly hungry to get amongst the runs, come SCG.

Billions and counting number of fans would be praying that Virat and Co., come to the party ensuring a flight to Melbourne for the grand finale on the 29th of May.
