EyesThis summer, dress up your eyes in right amount of colour to get the perfect shimmer effect. Opt for gold and silver shades to add a dash of glamour to your overall looks.

Enchanting gold
“For the Indian skin tone, gold is a better colour of the two. During the day, for a day at the beach or the pool, this colour (gold) can work wonders as a highlighter on the face, and it also gives an impression of a suntanned look,” says beauty expert Vidya Tikari.

For a look that will guarantee to leave an impression, one must opt for gold. “Metallic eye pencils — in golden and charcoal shades in rich shimmering colours for dazzling dramatic eyes, lightweight lipstick — in crimson blaze shade for vibrant, silky colour. Use a highlighting mascara — in golden embers shade for scene stealing lashes,” Jonas Wrameel, global artistic director, Oriflame.

Sizzle in silver
Silver, on the other hand, is a colour that works well during the night especially, for a party.Wrameel says, “Go for silver frost and emerald for shimmering eyes. Try magenta colour on lips and nails, and silver frost as the shade for the eyelashes.” “Under the disco lights in a late-night party, wearing a sequin dress and silver jewellery, emphasising eyes using silver will leave a dazzling impact,” says Tikari.

Day tips:

Before applying make-up, prepare the eye with creme or primer.

Apply a dash of gold or silver eye shadow in the outer corner of the eye, or just as a highlighter on the brow bone.

Use silver eye pencil on the upper eyelid and smudge it a little to get shadow effect.

Once done with the eye make-up, dab a little compact over it to tone it down.

If you’re going for black smokey eyes, dab a small amount of gold or silver eye shadow in the middle of your eye lid as a highlighter.
