To keep a check on middlemen, who generally swallow the hard-earned money of farmers, the marketing committee has decided to install close circuit television (CCTV) cameras on the premises of Sabji Mandi.

The central government's aim to launch marketing intervention schemes was to put a check on the middlemen and let farmers and buyers benefit directly, said state planning development and 20 point chairman Ram Lal Thakur.

Thakur congratulated newly elected Bilaspur Marketing Committee chairman Vivek Kumar at Circuit House.

He urged him to take lead in solving the problems of farmers, who face difficulty in marketing their produce.

Kumar said the marketing committee would be made online and to ensure the efficiency of the staff, biometric system would be installed in the complex. He said it was noticed that the middleman was not only fleecing farmers, but also consumers.

Kumar said, to benefits the farmers, we have decided to start collection centre at the doorstep of farmers so their expenditure cost could be cut down which is generally more than the product cost.

He said expanding the Apni Mandi concept any day of each week, an open mandi would be arranged where farmers could sell their product directly to consumers.

Kumar extended his gratitude to chief minister Virbhadra Singh, his MP wife Pratibha Singh and 20 point chairman Ram Lal Thakur for keeping faith in him.

He assured them he would try to come up to their expectations.
