Now, 99 per cent chances are that the 62-year-old Shekhar Kapur and his wife Suchitra Krishnamurthy, in her 30s, who had filed papers for a divorce in September last year, may actually kiss and make up.
They had been married for nine years. Suchitra has just left for London to sort out matters with her estranged husband.
According to their common friends, "She has thought about the separation and feels it was a hasty decision on her part.
Both Shekhar and Suchitra want to get sorted on this..and of course, they are concerned about the impact that the separation on their two children."
Suchitra is director Shekhar Kapur’s second wife. Earlier the globally applauded director was married to Medha, who, after their divorce, married bhajan singer Anup Jalota.
Suchitra, an upcoming actress couldn’t make much of her acting career (highlighted essentially by the Shah Rukh Khan movie Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa). Subsequently, she cut music albums and also held an exhibition of her paintings.
The main bone of contention between Suchitra and Shekhar was that he did not spend sufficient time with the family, according to their common friends.
After directing Elizabeth, Kapur has been anchored in London and has done a followup film to the historical, besides the earlier Four Feathers, which was a commercial disaster.
Suchitra just a day before their separation had cryptically said, "Enough is enough".
When the news broke, the couple made public appearances to throw the media off the scent.. and then there was silence.
The Kapurs’ friends say, "We really wish they patch up. They are very unlike each other.. but then opposites always attract, don’t they?"
