When it comes to public figures making derogatory and sexist public statements, Tom Cruise is the one whom Aussie women feel tops the list of celebs that deserve the 14th Annual Ernie Award.

Cruise, who was judged to be the winner in the celebrity list, managed to beat all contenders in his category by a past comment about his then-pregnant fiancée Katie Holmes.

"I've got Katie tucked away so no one will get to us until my child is born ... [Katie's] life from now on was going to be about being a mother. I'm not giving her the chance to turn into another Nicole," Zap2it quoted him, as stating.

The big winner at the Aug 24 event, however, was a different kind of Cruise – A P&O cruise liner that won the Golden Ernie for their ad campaign that included postcards featuring bikini-clad women and the caption: "Seamen wanted."

The Ernie Awards are named after a former trade union leader that also represented sheep shearers for his comment that women were not welcome in shearing sheds because they were only after sex.
