Ton-up Tomar helps Bhopal amass 309/5

AN UNBEATEN hundred (112) by Brajesh Tomar helped Bhopal score 309 runs for the loss of five wickets against Jabalpur on the first day of the Maharaj Yeshwantrao memorial senior inter-division cricket tournament that began at the Bab-e-Aali Stadium on Monday.

AN UNBEATEN hundred (112) by Brajesh Tomar helped Bhopal score 309 runs for the loss of five wickets against Jabalpur on the first day of the Maharaj Yeshwantrao memorial senior inter-division cricket tournament that began at the Bab-e-Aali Stadium on Monday.

After winning the toss skipper Sohail Masood decided to bat first. But Opener Zuber Raza was caught soon to a delivery of Yogesh at the team’s score of nine. However, his partner Sameer Qureshi played a responsible innings and added 45 runs to the total. When Sameer looked settled, Amit claimed his wicket at the team’s score of 68.

Next batsmen Pervezullah and Brajesh Tomar played well. The duo produced a crucial 116-run partnership. Yogesh ended the innings of Pervezullah at his individual score of 72 runs. Meanwhile, Tomar remained unperturbed scored runs comfortably. Sohail Masood however failed to stay for long at the wicket and was out adding 21 runs.

At the end of the day’s play Brajesh and Satish Kumar were at the stumps. Satish had scored 17 runs. Earlier, Ranji team selector Mohammed Imran Khan was introduced to the players of both teams. On the occasion, BDCA secretary Dr Shafquat Mohammad Khan, C S Dhakad, Hamidullah Khan ‘Mamu’, Junaid Kidwai, Iqbal Yahya and others were present.
