A top leader of Unlf (United National Liberation Front) with one of his associate has been arrested by City Police from a rented house opposite Reserve Bank of India office in Panbazar area here.

The arrested Unlf leader was identified as Jai Singh. Police recovered one lap top, three mobile handsets and some incriminating documents from the Ulfa leader’s possession.

City SSP Pradip Saloi said that there was intelligence input about the top Unlf leader’s movement in Guwahati. “He was in city for his organization’s activities. We will further interrogate him”, said Saloi.

Unlf is a militant outfit of Manipur. In last two months, police have arrested 12 cadres of Unlf in Guwahati. Only three days earlier, a dreaded militant of PLA (People’s Liberation Army) of Manipur was arrested near Gauhati Railway Station.

Both Unlf and PLA have nexus with Assam’s Ulfa.
