Rahul Bose's 40th birthday was special. Apart from a retrospective of his films at the Toronto film festival, there was a party held specially for the occasion.
The retrospective was called Masala Mehndi Masti and was held Friday, coinciding with the versatile actor's birthday.
"Not only did they have a retrospective of my films at the festival, they also hosted an inaugural party for the event," Rahul said from Toronto.
"I feel special because of the retrospective ... 40 is just a number. I wish I was in Mumbai with my sister and niece. They'd have enjoyed my birthday much more than me."
The festival's inaugural party was actually a smokescreen for his birthday party.
"Well, the party was listed in the programme as my birthday. But I'd like to think of it as the inauguration party. They hosted it at the Liberty Grand in central Toronto. The location can't get any posher than that. And if they said it's my birthday location, so be it. I don't mind. I had a ball," he laughed.
Birthdays for him generally mean dinner with his sister and niece topped by a night out with his friends from his rugby world.
"I guess god decided the 40th birthday was much too special for the routine," Rahul remarked.
