Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief and former Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Monday declared his moveable and immovable assets worth Rs 9 crore while filing his nomination papers from Lambi assembly seat.
As per the declaration submitted along with the nomination papers, the vehicle he owns is a modest Messi Furguson 1999-model tractor valued at Rs 1.5 lakh.
Badal and his family members have deposits, property and other assets worth Rs 8.61 crore. These include Rs 40,000 cash with the former chief minister and Rs 30,000 with his spouse Surinder Kaur Badal.
In the affidavit filed by Badal, he submitted that he owns agricultural land worth Rs 3.05 crore, while his wife possesses land worth Rs 91 lakh. Badal owns buildings worth Rs 1.84 crore and his spouse has property worth Rs 28 lakh.
The former chief minister also owns half of the shares of the Balasar farmhouse spread over 33 acres in Sirsa district. He put the value of his share at Rs 1.08 crore.
Badal’s declaration was prompted by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh’s major campaign against corruption in the run-up to the elections. Amarinder Singh has alleged that the Badal family amassed over Rs 4,000 crore in properties during his tenure as chief minister.
