All the factors seemed to be just right for Atul Agnihotri’s Hello, the solo release of the week. Yet it laid an egg.
Attempting to cash in on Salman Khan’s star power (in a ‘thanks’ appearance) and the popularity of Chetan Bhagat’s bestselling novel, the film did manage decent collections at some multiplexes in Mumbai on Thursday since it was a holiday for Dussehra.
The next day though, the initial collections averaged just 30 to 40 per cent as the word-of-mouth buzz was extremely negative. The reviews also have been downers.
Although the trade has already written the film off, the producers and distributors of Hello are hosting a success bash on Monday night. Perhaps they expect a miracle to happen by then.
Meanwhile, both Sanjay Gadhvi’s Kidnap and Goldie Behl’s Drona couldn’t gather steam after their dismal openings.
Although, Kidnap has made its place in the duds of the year category, it has done a little better than Drona which tanked big time. Ramchand Pakistani too didn’t make any waves.
