Three armed men fired at a trader in DLF City and snatched Rs 7.25 lakh from him on Sunday night.

Thirty-one-year-old VP Garg was on his way home after downing shutters of his office when the armed men attacked him. He was rushed to a private hospital on MG Road after gunshot splinters hit him.

Additional commissioner of police (East) Sumit Kuhar said the incident occurred around 11 p.m. on Sunday when Garg was walking to his home from his office, about 50 metres away.

“As if the traders was being followed as part of a pre-planned conspiracy, three youths pounced on him in a bid to snatch his bag with cash. The trader grappled with the trio to save his money and it was during this that one of them fired at him,”the ACP said.

“The shot missed the trader but he was hit by some splinters. The goons fled and disappeared in the cover of darkness with the booty,” he added.

On hearing the gunshot, relatives of the traders reached the spot and rushed him to Kalyani Hospital.

The trader was discharged from the hospital in the afternoon on Monday.
