In the next 15 days, you will be able to avert traffic congestions on the BRT corridor and drive smoothly through the jam prone areas.

For this, all you will need to do is look at real time images of the traffic situation on various Delhi roads, on some government websites.

On behalf of the transport department, the Delhi Integrated Multi-modal Transit System (DIMTS) has designed a unique webpage where real time images of critical locations on the BRT corridor will be uploaded and refreshed constantly. To access the page, you will have to log on to the transport department’s website www.transport.delhigovt.nic.in or DIMTS website www.dimts.in.

“The still images on the website will be refreshed every minute. We hope this will bring relief to commuters,” said RK Verma, commissioner, transport department.

“The photographs will be taken by speed cameras, which are being installed on the corridor as a part of automatic intelligent signaling system (ISS). The images will be transferred to the operations control centre at Kashmere Gate, from where they will be uploaded,” said DIMTS officials.

A senior DIMTS official said, “Initially images of four critical locations, Chirag Delhi, Siri Fort, Press Enclave and Ambedkar Nagar, will be uploaded.”

The existing signaling system on 5.8 km stretch is operational manually with pre-loaded command in the system. Once the system is laid on the remaining 8.7 km between Moolchand and Delhi Gate, DIMTS will integrate the whole intelligent signaling system and it will operate automatically.

“The intelligent signaling system will be functional by the end of March,” said Verma.
