Two men, Ravi Yashwant Choudhary (22) and Vinod Shankar Choudhary (21), died after a cement mixture vehicle ran over them on Monday evening near Kasarwadavli police station in Thane (west).
One more person, Dilip Vadh, was injured and has been admitted to the Thane Civic Hospital.
“The trio, in their late twenties, was on a bike and were on their way from Thane. They were going for a wedding in their village Takarde near Ovala,” said Senior Police Inspector Pramod Khade.
“They were under the influence of alcohol and were carrying beer bottles. A cement mixer vehicle was in front of them. The vehicle took a sudden right turn and they came under the rear tyre of the vehicle. The cement mixer vehicle driver has been arrested,” added Khade.
The driver has been identified as Santosh Jadhav (22), resident of Alibaug.
He has been booked for causing death by negligence and rash and negligent driving. The police are in the process of registering a case of drunken driving against Vadh.
