The Aligarh police raided the office of a television news channel based in Noida in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday and arrested IT head Ram Nagina Yadav and detained two other employees for allegedly causing loss of image and business to Aligarh-based export houses.

The clip, Save Aligarh Save Aligarh, was put up on Google.com and YouTube, showing children manufacturing locks and other hardware products at the city’s five biggest exporters’ premises.

Ramesh Chand Singhal, managing director of one of the export houses, Prashant Enterprises, lodged an FIR on October 20, saying the clip was brought to the notice of major importers in the West. It was fabricated to defame his firm, which not only suffered a substantial loss, but also received threats, he said.

SP (City) Man Singh Chauhan told HT that they cracked the email identity from which the clip was uploaded. The three said their employer Surendra Gupta and his sons had ordered them to upload the clip using email ID of one of the detained employees, Rudra Pratap, he said.

Efforts are on to nab the Guptas, who also own an export business. But Surendra Gupta told reporters over the phone that he had received the clip from a reporter in Aligarh. But he refused to telecast it. “I don’t know who uploaded the clip,” he claimed.
