Twenty four jouralists get Matri Shree awards

Twenty-four journalists were on Sunday presented with this year's Matri Shree media awards.

The journalists who received the awards were Harmeet Shah Singh (PTI), Naresh Kaushik (PTI-Bhasha), Dinesh Upretee (UNI Varta), Indiwar Parijat (UNI), Ashok Singhal (Zee News), AK Handoo (AIR), Sameena (DD-News), Anamika Ratna (Sahara Samay) and Neeraj Gupta (Aaj Tak), S Kannan of the Hindustan Times and Manish Pandey of the Times of India.
In his brief speech, UNI General Manager MK Laul, who gave away the awards, spoke about the accomplishments and challenges of the print media vis-a-vis news channels.
He praised news agencies for what he called their balanced and credible coverage of news.
In his address, Matri Shree Media Award Committee convenor Dinesh Sharma spoke about the role of media in democracies.
Others who received the awards, 30th in the series, were Rakesh Gupta (Sadhna TV), Bharat Raj (Star News), KM Sharma (Total TV), AK Handoo (AIR), Ramesh Tripathi (Daily Hindustan), Kamal Narang (Hindu), Manish Aggarwal (Navbharat Times), Naveen Gautam (Daily Jaagran), Sunil Talwar (Punjab Kesri), Samar Sudesh (Daily Ajit), Chaman Lal Gautam (Daily Aaj), Shevender (Viraat Vaibhav), Nirbhay Kumar (Sandhya Times), and Haamid Ali (Siyasat).
Prem Aggarwal, Raj Khurana and Jamshed Alam Choudhary received thee awards for their role in medical, labour and social service.
