After a brief lull in violence in Jammu and Kashmir, suspected guerrillas struck in Srinagar on Wednesday evening and carried out two grenade attacks targeting the police.
In the first attack, two policemen were injured when guerrillas lobbed a grenade at a police vehicle in Chanpora, 6 km from city centre Lal Chowk.
"Two policemen were injured in the explosion, and they were taken to hospital for treatment," a police officer said.
He said guerrillas also made an attempt to target the Rajbagh police station in the heart of Srinagar late in the evening by firing a rifle grenade towards it.
"The grenade, however, fell and exploded in a park adjacent to the police station without causing any damage."
No guerrilla group has owned responsibility for the explosions yet.
